Doughnut-proof vid cam tips up – Seen more buttons on a mouse
THERE’S A NEW camcorder set to hit the UK market targeted specifically at the “YouTube generation.”
The Disgo Video, a mini digitial camcorder produced by Clever Stuff, is a budget piece of kit which the company boasts is the “easiest video camcorder in the world.” It’s charged by two AA batteries and weighs no more than your average mobile phone. The Disgo Video sports a two-inch colour screen and a built-in speaker, and ships with a 1GB SD card which can hold up to about one hour of continuous video recording.
A TV cable is included in the package which lets users hook their camera straight up to the TV to bore their mates with home movies and such. Also provided is a USB cable so punters can upload their videos, saved in your bog standard AVI format, straight onto the ‘puter. Video editing software ships with the product, too.
Quality isn’t superb with it shooting in a 640 x 480 pixel VGA quality, but for the asking price of just forty quid it could be one to nab for anyone starting their filming endeavours or for your average video blogger.
Three-button Disgo Video launches for “YouTube generation”
Under-£40 camcorder for quick and easy web-quality vids
by Amy-Mae Elliott
The “Disgo Video”, a pocket-sized digital video camcorder from Clever Stuff, designed for quick and simple shooting and sharing of videos on the go has launched in the UK.
Weighing no more than a mobile, Disgo Video has just three buttons for one-touch recording, instant playback on the LCD screen and deleting. We think their “easiest video camcorder in the world” claim might just stand up to scrutiny.
Shooting in just 640 x 480 quality, this almost ridiculously cheap product comes in at under £40 and is aimed firmly at the “YouTube generation”.
Powered by two AA batteries, Disgo Video has a 2-inch colour screen and built-in speaker. It includes a removable 1GB SD memory card (upgradeable to 2GB) that will give you an hour’s worth of recording.
Disgo Video can connect to a TV, via a TV cable included with the product and to PCs, via the also-included USB cable.
Requiring no software installation, video clips are automatically saved into AVI format which can then be uploaded direct to YouTube, as well as other video sharing sites.
The Disgo Video camera comes in at under £40 – so presumably £39.99 – will go on sale this coming weekend at Currys and PC World as well as online.
Hang on, hang on. A video camera for less than £40? And it hasn’t fallen off the back of a truck? How on earth…

It’s true, and you’ll be able to pick one up this weekend on the high street. Aimed, as most products are these days, at the YouTube generation, it’s a pocket-sized digital video camcorder which weighs no more than a mobile phone. Powered by two AA batteries, it’s simple to use, with only three buttons for one-touch recording, instant playback on the 2-inch LCD screen, and one for deleting any shonky camerawork. It comes with a 1GB SD card, and doesn’t require any software installation, as clips are saved into the AVI format, and easily transferred onto a PC using the USB cable provided.
Obviously when uploading videos to YouTube, the videos are compressed, so quality isn’t a necessity when looking for camcorders to use, making this £40 model from Disgo ideal for us YouTube-users.
Available at Dixons, Curry’s and PC World
