Some Xkey strings have not yet been translated. These strings will be displayed in English until the translations are available.

Some messages related to Digital IDs are generated by Windows. The language used in these messages is determined by the operating system settings, and not the Xkey settings. This may happen if the language selection on your Xkey does not match the Windows language setting.

If you are using your Xkey with an account without administrator privileges, the message Your Xkey could not start. may be displayed. This message is always displayed in English because it occurs before the Xkey software can read the stored language selection from Xkey.

Xkey Help is currently available only in English, French, and German. If you set your Xkey to Spanish or Italian, the English Help will be displayed.

Xkey shut down, but Windows did not eject the device. Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray to eject your Xkey.

Occasionally you may find that shutting down your Xkey on a computer running Windows 2000 takes 30 to 40 seconds.

If you use your Xkey for the first time on Windows XP, and log in with an account that has Guest privileges, Xkey will shut down after the initialization wizard finishes. All the information you entered regarding language selection, password, hint, and contact information will be stored and there is no need to re-enter the information. This only occurs the first time you use your Xkey. If you remove Xkey and reinsert it, you will be prompted for your password and Xkey will function normally.

New settings cannot be written to Xkey using a Guest account. You can only change the Xkey settings using an account with broader privileges.

The Windows Cryptographic API prevents browsing through or removing certificates from personal certificate stores when using a Guest account.

When using your disgo Xkey on a computer running Windows 2000 SP2 or earlier, the Xkey Launcher drive is not available after Xkey launches due to the way Windows handles USB devices with multiple partitions.

Your Xkey continues to function normally, but the Help files and Xinfo support application are not available because they are located on the Xkey Launcher drive.

If you create an encrypted or signed e-mail using OWA and a Digital ID from your Xkey, a message will be displayed when the e-mail is sent indicating that the Digital ID is missing.

This is caused by a limitation in OWA that prevents the use of certificates that don’t reside on the host computer. The same limitation prevents using a Digital ID from your Xkey to decrypt e-mails using OWA. If you export your certificate, remove and reinsert your Xkey, and import the certificate, you can use the certificate to encrypt, decrypt, and sign e-mails with OWA.

Note: The certificate isn’t removed by Xkey when it is unplugged from the computer.

If you try to import a Digital ID from a file while using a Guest account on Windows XP, you will receive a message that the import failed.

This is caused by a limitation in the Windows Cryptographic API. To circumvent this Windows limitation, log out and log in with an account that has broader privileges.
